Formed in 2003, Talking Rhythms has been delighting audiences of all ages for more than 13 years. As one of the musical groups that are a part of the Grand Junction Musical Arts Association/ Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, our mission is to educate, entertain, and share culture through rhythm-based musical experiences. Through concerts and high energy interactive performance, Talking Rhythms has been a favorite at local and regional venues, festivals and concert programs. We have an extensive range of drum / percussion styles and musical offerings, including urban, culturally specific (West African, Egyptian, Middle Eastern, Afro–Latin, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean) and original compositions. Under the co-direction of Rob Labig and Celeste Herron, Talking Rhythms has delivered more than 500 interactive percussion-based music education programs to more than 30 area schools, through the Grand Junction Symphony’s Concerts in the Classroom Program. Please see our YouTube channel.
Steve McGarry and Aprÿl Ott are long time members of Talking Rhythms and we are often joined by additional percussionists, according to each performance and project.
